How To Use a PS3 Controller on a PC

You can learn how to connect a PS3 controller to a Windows PC with the help of the SCP toolkit program.

Step 1: Attach your controller to your PC.

Plug the small end of the charging cable into the controller and the large end into your computer's port.Press the PS button in the middle of your controller to turn it on.Depending on the type of computer you're using, there are different locations for theusb port.If you can't locate the ports, check the sides or the back of the computer.You may need to install the drivers for the wireless dongle if you're connecting it to your controller.Make sure you follow the on-screen instructions after plugging in.Plug the PS3 from its power source if you have a controller with it.

Step 2: Go to the website.

You will be able to use your PS3 controller with PC game services if you use the SCP Toolkit.

Step 3: Click on the link to download the software.

There is a link beneath the "Assets" heading on the page.The toolkit will be downloaded to your PC's default downloads folder if you do that.Make sure you download the most recent version of the software.You won't see the green "Latest Release" sticker on the left side of the page if you are on an out-of-date version's page.

Step 4: Click the setup file.

Its icon is similar to a PS3 controller.You can open downloaded files from your "downloads" folder in your web browser.

Step 5: ScpToolKit needs to be installed.

Click until the prerequisites begin installing if the toolkit mentions that you're missing "prerequisites" needed to run the program.Click the button next to "I agree to the License terms and conditions" to install ScpToolKit.Click if you want to.Click.Click if prompted.

Step 6: Double-click the program that you want to install.

It is in the file that you installed the toolkit.It has an icon that looks like a cable.

Step 7: Don't check the "Install dualShock 4 controller" box.

There is an option on the left side of the window.You don't want to install PS4 drivers if you're installing a PS3 controller.The box next to "Bluetooth" should be checked if your controllers are not wired.A good rule of thumb is to not put a box next to anything you aren't using.You need to check the box next to "Force Driver Installation" if you're using Windows Vista.

Step 8: Click the box that says "choose dual shock 3 controllers to install"

There is an option on the right side of the window.You can choose your controller from here.

Step 9: You can check the "Wireless Controller" option.

You can see a list of all the devices attached to your computer.The PS3 controller's interface number is marked "Wireless Controller (Interface [number])", which relates to the port on which the controller is attached.If you're using a non-wired controller, you need to choose theusb device that you want to connect to under the "Bluetooth" section above the drop-down box.

Step 10: Click it to install.

It is on the right side of the window.SCP Toolkit will install your controller's drivers in less than five minutes if you do that.You will hear a confirmation noise once the installation is complete.Your controller's drivers have been installed and you are ready to use it with PC games.
