It may be tempting to skip cleaning baby bottles because they seem like an endless chore.Babies' immune systems have not fully developed, making them more susceptible to getting sick frombacteria in dirty bottles, which is why the proper cleaning of baby bottles is so important.Instructions on how to properly wash baby bottles can be found in Step 1 below.
Step 1: The baby bottles should be washed after use.
After feeding your baby, rinse the bottle in the sink.When you have time, you can wash the bottle more thoroughly, but this will prevent dirt and old milk from getting into it.When rinsing out a bottle, try to use hot water.
Step 2: Pick the right cleaning materials.
It's important to use the right materials when cleaning out baby bottles.Make sure you have a bottle brush and a nipple brush to help you clean the bottle.It is designed for baby bottles.This is non-toxic and won't leave a soapy mess on bottles.If you are using plastic baby bottles, make sure they are free from the chemical known asbisphenol A, which was banned by the FDA in 2012
Step 3: Put hot soapy water in the sink.
Before you wash your bottles, it's a good idea to clean the sink you intend to use.Use hot water and a sponge to clean the sink and plug.Baking soda can be used as a natural disinfectant.If the sink is dirty, fill it with hot water and dish soap.
Step 4: Remove the bottle and wash it separately.
It's important to separate the bottle, ring and nipple when cleaning them.A lot of old milk can build up between the ring and the nipple, leading to the growth ofbacteria.The bottle parts should be placed in the soapy water and washed separately.The nipple brush can be used for bottles and rings.
Step 5: The bottles should be washed in the dishwasher.
If your bottles are labeled dishwasher safe, you can wash them in the dishwasher.Place the bottles upside-down on the top rack of the dishwasher, away from the heating element.The nipples and rings can be bought in baby supply stores.
Step 6: Allow the bottles to dry completely.
The bottle parts should be washed in hot running water to remove soap and bubbles.The parts can be placed on a bottle drying rack.If you leave the bottles to drain in a well-ventilated location, they will dry thoroughly.If bottles remain damp for too long, they can grow mold.
Step 7: Before feeding your baby, wash your hands.
Before handling the bottles or feeding the baby, make sure to wash your hands with soap and warm water.
Step 8: It's not necessary to sterilize bottles after every use.
Parents used to be told to sterilize bottles after every use.If the water is safe to drink, you can wash your bottle with hot, soapy water.It is still necessary to sterilize bottles that have been washed with water after each use.
Step 9: You can use a bottle sterilizing device.
You can use an electric steam or microwave steam sterilizer when you need to sterilize your bottles.The bottles are immersed in steam at a temperature of 100 degrees C and kill off anybacteria.With the electric sterilizer, you add water, stack the bottles, rings and nipples, cover with a lid, plug in and turn on.The process of sterilizing takes about 10 minutes.The process is basically the same with the microwave sterilizer.Place the bottles in the microwave for 4 to 8 minutes, depending on the wattage of your microwave.

The old fashioned way of sterilizing bottles involved boiling them in water.Bring a large pot of water to the boil, then add the bottle parts, cover with a lid and boil for at least 5 minutes.The method is best for sterilizing glass baby bottles, but will work on plastic ones as well.
Step 11: Be ready.
The best way to deal with bottle cleaning is to be prepared.Carry a small bottle of dish soap and a bottle brush in a sealable plastic bag.You only have to bring one bottle if you use disposable bottle liners.The bottle can be washed at night if the liners are changed after each feed.Bring a portable microwave sterilizer with you when you travel if you have a microwave.
Step 12: The bottles should be washed in a hotel sink.
You can wash the bottles in any available sink if you have your dish soap and bottle brush with you.Give the sink a rinse to remove any dirt.Place the bottle parts on a clean towel after washing.
Step 13: Use a travel kettle to sterilize.
If you've used a sink that's unsafe for drinking, you may need to wash your bottles.The easiest way to do this is with a portable microwave sterilizer, but if you don't have access to a microwave, you can use a travel kettle and bottle tongs.Plug the kettle in and let it boil.The bottle parts are in the sink.Place the items on a clean towel and use the tongs to remove them from the sink.
