There is a free Windows app called 7-Zip that you can use to open files.
Step 1: Go to the website in a browser.
7-Zip is a free app that can open various file archive types.You can view the files inside your.gz file with 7-Zip.
Step 2: Next to your version of Windows, click Downloads.
You can download the file to your computer.Before the file will download, you may have to choose a download location.
Step 3: Double click the file you just downloaded.
Step 4: Select the folder that you want to install 7-Zip in.
If you don't know which folder to choose, use the default location.
Step 5: Click install.
You will be able to install the application on your computer.A button will appear when the installation is complete.
Step 6: Click on it to close.
Now that 7-Zip is installed, you will have a new icon on your desktop as well as one in the Windows menu.
Step 7: It is possible to open 7-Zip.
There is a black and white icon on your desktop.You can see the file manager.Click the Windows menu at the bottom- left corner of the screen if you don't see it.Click before you see your apps list.
Step 8: If you want to open the.gz file, navigate to it.
The small folder icon is located at the top- left corner of the file list.
Step 9: Click on the file that ends with.gz.
This shows the file.
Step 10: You can extract from it.
The icon has a blue minus sign.
Step 11: From the drop-down, pick a location.
The contents of the.gz file will appear here.You will need to open the folder you choose to access your files.
Step 12: Click OK to proceed.
You can extract the files from the.gz by selecting a folder.Double-click the file if you want to view them.
