How To Style Curly Bangs

It's common style advice that bangs shouldn't be curly. The term "curly bangs" conjures images of exaggerated '80s-style hairdos. Many people with curly hair are told that to look fashionable they must either have no bangs at all or have their bangs straightened out.Curly bangs are once again on-trend.

Step 1: Don't use heat.

Curly hair is more prone to damage.Your natural Curl pattern can be ruined by heat damage. If you want to change your hair style, the first thing you need to do is stop using heat.Allow your hair to grow out for a while.

Step 2: You have to get the right cut.

Your bangs need to be cut.It takes more thought to cut curly hair than it does straight hair. With bangs, there is no room for mistakes.Curls make your hair look shorter and will shrink as it dries. If you have straight hair, leave it a little longer. Each ringlet should be individually cut. It's important to work with your natural hair pattern to make sure it doesn't look weird.Don't wear bangs if you're cutting your own hair for the first time.It is better to practice on the rest of your hair. You can start working with your bangs once you've trimmed your hair a few times. If you're going to get your hair professionally cut, find a hairdresser with curly bangs. Some people subscribe to the idea that bangs shouldn't be curly or are inexperienced with curly hair in general.Ask them about both before booking an appointment.

Step 3: Remove your bangs.

Either wash your hair or add some water to your bangs. The temperature of the water is up to you. Before styling your bangs, be sure to wash your hair.Next time it gets wet, your hair will lose its style.

Step 4: Pick a definer.

Curl definers are used as creams and custards. Each individual curl is defined by these products.Curl definers can help you avoid the issues of greasy hair that can occur with other styling products. If you've never used a curl definer before, you may need to try out a few different products to find the right one.Curl Definers act as leave-in conditioners. If your hair is dry, look for a definer.

Step 5: Curl definer should be applied.

Take a small strand of hair from your bangs. It can be either wide or thin.To scoop up a small portion of definer, use a finger. You should be able to lightly coat the strand. To get the Definer into your hair, run your fingers up and down the strand. You should read the package directions if the brand requires you to saturate the strands fully.

Step 6: If you want to twist each curl, do it.

Use your fingers to make small twists with each small lock as you work in the curl definer.Do not wrap your hair around your finger in a different direction.Curl definer and twisting one lock at a time can be done from right to left.

Step 7: You can dry your hair with a blow dryer.

You will need to dry your hair after styling it.If you want to prevent damage, set your hairdryer to the lowest possible heat and speed. The diffuser should be pushed directly into your hair.As you dry, fluff your bangs with your fingers. It is possible to prevent damage to your hair by decreasing the strength of the hairdryer's air flow.Curl pattern can be damaged if you don't use a finger diffuser.

Step 8: Purchase a styling iron.

You can find one that looks like a miniature version of the larger flat irons. There are 2 inch (1.3 cm) plates for most mini flat irons.Flat irons can be used to add wavy hair if you already have straight hair.A rounded iron is ideal for curling. The styling iron you choose needs to be very thin.It will be difficult to wrap the short hair of your bangs around the hair dryer.

Step 9: Use a heat-protectant product.

Before you use a heated styling tool, apply a heat-protectant product to your hair.Put a small amount of the product on your fingers and lightly coat each strand of hair. The heat protectant can be distributed through the hair.

Step 10: You should preheat your iron.

The most consistent results will come from applying even heat to the curling process. Before you start, make sure your iron is heated to the correct temperature.Fine, fragile, or damaged hair should be styled between 250 to 300 F.The best temperature for hair of medium or average thickness is 300 to 350 F.If you don't know where your hair falls, try this setting.A flat iron's "high" setting is usually between 350 to 400 F.

Step 11: The iron should be near your roots.

Start by selecting a small strand of hair from your bangs.Attach the strand between the 2 plates with your flat iron.Start by strand on either the left or right side.It will be less likely to miss a stray lock if you work in a single horizontal direction.

Step 12: Curl your hair by twisting it around the style iron.

Put your wrist away from your face by one half turn so that your hair is wrapped around it.Use your free hand to hold the strand's tip and gently pull the iron towards it.The iron should be released when you reach the bottom of your bangs. The entire process should take about 5 seconds. If you hold the iron too long, it can burn your hair or cause damage to the hair plates. The iron needs to be held in place for 5 seconds.

Step 13: Curl each strand of hair in your bangs.

If you want a natural look, don't pick the same point for each strand.Start the curl higher or lower than its neighbor.Try to make your hair the same thickness. If you find it hard to do this on the fly, you can portion out the strands and hold them together with pins.

Step 14: Tousle your hair.

Run your fingers through your hair, then twist your wrist a few times. If you want to finish with a spray, use texturizing spray. It can be difficult to hold style and volume if you have straight hair.Texturizing sprays are great for giving body to fine hair as they are lighter than traditional hairsprays. If you're having trouble getting a curl to hold, try ironing again, and apply some heat-activated mousse to your bangs first.
